Discussions Booker T vs W.E.B 1.Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. DuBois offered differing philosophies, strategies, and tactics for African-Americans following Reconstruction. In your opinion, which of these leaders gave the best advice for their times? Why do you feel this way? 2: Key Industrial Leaders, Organizations, and Events Of all the major industrial leaders, inventions, organizations, and events discussed in this unit (late 1800's to early 1900's), who (or what) had the most significant impact on the U.S. economy or national character? Why? 3 A Changing World The United States (and the world) was a much different place following World War I. Understandably, new groups were finding ways to rise in power and to improve their financial prospects. The "Old Guard" understandably sought to hold on to their privileged position for as long as they could. Was there any way for the United States to transition to "modern America" without experiencing the resurgence of the Ku Klux Klan, without implementing the National Origins Act, without increased Jim Crow laws, without the divorce rate going to unprecedented levels, or without the Red Scare reprisals? As President, how would you have softened this transitional time period? Or, would you have stayed above the fray? 4. The Statue of Liberty The Statue of Liberty has a plaque that says: “Give me your poor, your tired, your huddled masses yearning to be free. The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send them, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me. I lift my lamp beside the golden door.” Is this welcoming attitude still appropriate in today's America? 5. please share and comment on one modern-day example of a controversial tactic of warfare.

American’s could be empowered by being treated equally as the whites as well as gaining high
economic standards. Furthermore, Du Bois’ philosophy considered empowering a broad
spectrum of the lives of the African Americans in the America than Booker’s strategy.
Key Industrial Leaders, Organizations, and Events
The war in 1812 between America and England stands as the event that had the most
significant impact on the United States economy and national character. Its aftermath saw a
revival of republicanism where people thought more of protecting America rather than selfishly
