To what extent are the buyers of goods or services responsible for their lack of knowledge? In this context, is there a difference in moral responsibility for the doctor versus the real estate agent?

depends on if the knowledge in question can be a type of common-sense knowledge or if the buyer has been warned or if their behaviour with a certain category of products is consistent with their behaviour when using other products in the same category.

the real-estate agent and doctor both must clarify any potential harms to their clients / patients. a doctor may have greater responsibility in some cases than a real estate agent.
