Reply to Rachel Carrero Why is quality improvement essential to the health care organization? We as nurses should care about the wellbeing of our patients, and with that caring comes the importance of the quality of care we are giving. Quality improvement is defined as a strategy to ensure accountability of all employees, incorporating evidence-based health care quality indicators to continuously improve the care delivered to various populations (Huber et al,. 2022). This means that the care given to patients is constantly changing to better results in treatment. Quality improvement is essential to healthcare organizations because it allows for the enhancement of patient experiences and outcomes and reduces the cost of care ( Taylor et al,. 2020). One example is the changing of procedures in a facility after new evidence-based practice is learned as it helps the patient heal quicker How will you play a role in improving the quality of care in the organization? One way that nurses play a role in improving the quality of care is through continuous education. As mentioned above, incorporating evidence-based health care quality to improve the care delivered to various populations continuously is a defining part of quality improvement (Huber et al,. 2022). If a nurse does not engage in continuous education, how are they to know that there are better practices out there? Another way is to join communities either externally or internally that center around the advocacy of patient outcomes. I think it is crucial that nurses address the fact that caregiving is everchanging, and in order for the patients to receive the best care, they have to keep with the times and learn the best practices.

Quality improvement is important in the healthcare setting because it improves the safety
of both patients and healthcare practitioners by ensuring that the healthcare environment is safe to
minimize any exposures and that there is adequate spacing to prevent the spread of infectious
diseases (Popovich et al., 2019; Williams et al., 2017). Quality improvement also enables proper
record-keeping by using technological advancements; thus, records are preserved effectively and
can be reviewed and retrieved in a short period with no time wastage enabling faster treatment and
high turnout of surviving patients as accurate data is preserved for the resources (Groene et al.,
2018). The information is tracked to highlight full patient history; a smooth flow is ensured, and
no disruptions are created due to a lack of capabilities or information; as a result, there is no latency
in service delivery (Williams et a...
