Question 1.
Your client is a local public high school with declining SAT scores. Large percentages of
children who attend this school are from one-parent homes, and many are children of color. Use
each theoretical perspective to explain the decline in SAT scores and make suggestions on
improving the scores.
According to data from the Programme for International Student Assessment report, the
quality of education in the United States of America is widely influenced by factors such as the
ethnic and social-economic profile of the local school system. Majority of single-parent and
families of color experience financial strains ("Rice University," 2017). Because of that

school and lose the motivation and confidence to complete their studies. Also, most children
from one-parent are generally bitter, lonely, increased home chores and responsibilities, and
experience reduced self-esteem, which negatively affects their performance in school. Children
of color may experience discrimination from their peers and teachers, lowering their self-esteem
and provoking stress responses similar to post-traumatic stress disorder. Therefore, they
negatively affect school; thus, performance goes down.
