Persuasion, Manipulation, and Seduction
Prepare a three- to five-page paper (not including title and
reference pages), formatted according to APA style as outlined in the
Ashford Writing Center, that cites at least two outside scholarly
sources to delineate the differences between the terms persuasion,
manipulation and seduction as they relate to human communication.
Provide at least three modern-day examples of the varying types of
persuasive devices and describe which audiences respond best to which
techniques.

Introduction
Much of human communication is motivated by the desire to influence the mind and
views of others through language. Human communication can be done consciously or
unconsciously, verbally or nonverbally. The communication can also be made truthfully or
deceitfully with logic, reason, emotions or using various characters. People’s perceptions,
behaviours and attitudes are influenced by what they see or hear every day. Therefore,
communication can alter or reinforce the ideas and views which people already have about
various issues. Human communication’s influence on behaviour can be carried out through
persuasion, manipulation or through seduction. Even though these methods differ, they yield
the same results of influencing the audience.
