What is the concentration of H+ ions in a buffer solution containing 0.738 M benzoic acid (with ionization constant 6.5 × 10−5 ) and 0.325 M sodium benzoate (a salt of benzoic acid)?

here we hav eto solve this equation:

6.5*10^(-5) = [y(0.325+y)/(0.758-y)]

where y = [H+]

the unique acceptable solution is:

y=[H+]= 1.476*10^(-4) mol/liter
