Description
Examine "The impact of a brief lifestyle intervention delivered by generalist community nurses" which can be accessed in the Module 4 Overview. In a 5 page paper (excluding title page and references), evaluate the study according to research design methods, procedures and study results, for example, see Evaluating a quantitative study (Houser, 2018, p. 345 & p. 377), Include a discussion on how the study contributes to evidence-based practice (EBP).

It would be imperative to understand that the research question of the research that is
being evaluated was to try and develop a foundation on the role of community health workers in
dealing with lifestyle diseases such as smoking. By its admission that there isn't much knowledge
that had been previously developed to try and understand the role of community nurses, despite
their critical role in the Australian public health care. Perhaps, this could lead to an almost
accurate, though the relative assumption that the research was explorative, trying to develop new
knowledge that had not been brought into focus on the efficiency of community nurses and their
impact to lifestyle changes among the vulnerable groups.
The research sample was chosen on the basis of their suitability, based on their physical
inactivity and weight, and also among different age groups. The focus was mainly on the people
between ages 30-80 years. The methods that were to be used were to test whether their data on
physical inactivity and weight would be suitable to the research. What followed would then be an
intervention by the community nurses, usually at a baseline of between 3-6 months, and then
trying to come up with the impact that the early intervention had done, in influencing a lifestyle
change among the clients, with a research sample of 804 participants. There was the offering of
services by the community nurses, either in the early intervention group or in the late
intervention group.
RESEARCH ANALYSIS

The major point of contention was whether the early intervention that was offered by the
initial group of nurses would result in any lifestyle changes, compared to the late intervention
services that were offered by the next group of nurses. Surprisingly, the research found that
‘although the intervention was associated with increases in advice and referral for diet or
physical activity and readiness for change in physical activity,...
