Identify the problem for the decision
Nurse shortage is a significant challenge faced in a local healthcare organization (Marc et
al., 2019). The number of patients seeking medical attention is relatively high compared to the
number of practitioners offering the needed health services. Most patients are therefore forced to
seek medical attention from other health facilities. Also, nurse shortage influences decision
making as the interaction between nurses is relatively low. The time to serve a patient in this
organization is usually high due to the low number of nurses.
Gather relevant information
Due to the complex policies set in most learning institutions, nurses graduating from
colleges are relatively low. The ever-increasing number of patients makes it hard to address this
problem. Also, as the government efforts to address the nurse shortage fails to engage the
community, the prevalence of this issue continues to grow. Most patients, therefore, have to look
for alternative ways to meet their health needs as they cannot get assistance in the local facilities.
