July 19, Norfolk City just approved the open data policy through a formal council meeting in
conjunction with the city residents and the city business community. Open data has been at the center
of public quest for several years. The city follows former President Obama’s policy of making data
available to the general public. This is poised to encourage transparency and democracy because the

The program went to the city council chambers under the sponsorship of the Office of the Mayor.
Following a series of successful meetings, the council, through the city website, announced that the
