This video offers a cinematic example of Situational Leadership. The type of situational
leadership here is Supporting/Participating. This is when the follower has the ability but does not
have the willingness/confidence. The lady supports the player to gain confidence. She reminds
him of his previous achievements and how he could not have allowed anyone to touch the lady.
After the encouragement, the player gains confidence and can score against their opponents and
protect his teammates.
1.

The five bases of social power according to French and Raven's:

Expert power is determined by an individual's high level of ability and knowledge. For example,
one individual may have expert power over the department if no one else in the department
knows how to utilize a certain software product.
Referent power: This results from an individual's perceived attractiveness, deservingness, and
right to be respected by others. Managers with a high level of employee admiration and respect
are seen as having "referent power" in the workplace. Consider their manager's conduct when
faced with a challenge and follow in their footsteps.
Legitimate power: When a person is employed or is in a position in an organization, they have
the legal ability to make demands and expect others to comply with them. For example, a
supervisor may delegate work, a police officer can detain a person, and a teacher can grade
students.
Reward power: This results from one person's ability to pay back another for their cooperation.
Having a boss or supervisor who actively encourages their employees to improve their
performance is an example of reward power.

Coercive power: This stems from the assumption that individuals can punish others for
noncompliance. There are many ways to exhibit this anxiety, including the fear of getting fired,
demoted, receiving a poor performance review, or having important projects yanked from under
one's feet. Intimidation is a powerful tool for establishing one's position of power. For example, a
vice president of sales threatens to fire salespeople who fail to meet their quotas.
