Although research exists in various forms, each research has specific research designs
that work well with it. Some examples of research include basic research, applied research,
evaluation research and action research. The two main research designs used are the quantitative
and qualitative research design. Quantitative research design expounds on the relationship
between different variables. The relationship between the different variables is represented
mathematically after analyzing the relationship between the variables in a statistical manner. The
quantitative research design is mostly used to solve scientific problems. On the other hand,
qualitative research design is often preferred when there is need to examine, understand and
describe certainly given phenomena. Social sciences problems are fond of utilizing qualitative
research designs as it helps to study behaviors, beliefs, and ideas. Qualitative research designs
usually do not find the relationship between variables.
Quantitative sampling tends to utilize two types of data sampling namely probability and
non-probability sampling. The probability sampling ensures that it deals with the hypothesis by
making use of randomization where every member of the whole population has an equal chance
