Data warehousing is concept that arose in an effort to curb problems related to data
inconsistencies and synchronization when data is acquired from different multiple production
and operational systems. The data warehouse is important as it functions as a collection point
merging and further spread data extracts from systems. It also ensures the accuracy,
uniformity, and consistency of data for the organization (Krishnan, 2013).
There are two key components that ensure the successful construction of a data
warehouse in terms of both completeness and the accuracy of information. These are data
integration and data quality. The components ensure that once the data is collected, it can be
relayed to other smaller data warehouses and is available for direct analysis.
Just as technical issues pertaining the data warehouse project is considered of much
