Explain the role of a fusion center in the day-to-day operations of a large metropolitan police
agency. Do you think that fusion centers would be very helpful to smaller agencies as well?
Why or why not?
The department of the homeland is well-engaged at all different levels within the country,
and thus they have put in place better policies and strategies, which are aimed at improving the
overall understanding of security engagement within the country. Fusion centers have been
effectively developed by the homeland security to provide a better environment where there is
significant need to create a well-enabled environment where different stakeholders are integrated
into the system. Fusion centers have been well developed, and thus they operate at different levels
including federal, state, local, tribal, territorial and private sectors for receipt, analysis, gathering
and sharing critical and sensitive threat related information (Lewandowski, Carter & Campbell,
2017).
The state and local law enforcement agencies are crucially engaged in daily business in
ensuring that the law is upheld through fighting crime and terrorism. It has been a common
understanding that terror activities especially the September 11 attack was mainly as a result of
poor engagement between different intelligence services which are tasked with providing crucial

therefore, have been significantly integrated into ensuring that there is the quality delivery of
information from regarding crime at possible attack where it is significantly analyzed and
effectively incorporated into practice (Catano & Gauger, 2017).
Fusion centers provide a significant all source collection and production of critical
intelligence information, which significantly focuses on criminal and terrorism aspects. The key
objective of the fusion centers is to create a well-enabled environment where any security risks

fusion center and the local centers provide a better environment where there is a continuous relay
of crucial information across the country and help in ensuring that the country is well protected
through development for key counter measures (Ratcliffe, 2014).
The fusion centers across the country on different levels of jurisdiction are well outlined
with specific goals, objectives, and mission, which offer as a daily guide to the provision of quality
information from the surrounding environment. Thus the significant fusion of these security issues
from the different environment has improved public confidence in how they perceive the security
focus and their objective is to ensure that the country is safe from terror threats and increasing
crime levels. Therefore, they play a very crucial role in the daily operations of Metropolitan police
since they are well informed about critical security issues and threats within their respective areas
of jurisdiction (Gosz, 2015).
Yes. I think that fusion centers would be very effective and would help small agencies in
ensuring that they have crucial information regarding their overall well-being and the surrounding
