Kayla has a rectangler garden that measures 10 m wide by 13 m long. She wants to increase the area to 208 m^2 by increasing the width and length by the same amount. What will be the length (longer dimesnsion) of the new garden?

Mar 4th, 2015

New area=(10+x)(13+x)=208

130+23x+x^2=207

x^2+23x-77=0

x=2.96

Hence new length=13+2.96=15.96m
