Prepare: View the Globalization: What is Happening to Us (Links to an external site.)? video and read the article A Model of Global Citizenship: Antecedents and Outcomes by Stephen Reysen and Iva Katzarska-Miller (2013). Go to the Ashford Library and locate one additional source on global citizenship that will help support your viewpoint.
Reflect: Please take some time to reflect on how the concept of global citizenship has shaped your identity, and think about how being a global citizen has made you a better person in your community

1. After viewing the video, describe how being a global citizen in the world of advanced
technology can be beneficial to your success in meeting your personal, academic, and
professional goals.
Focusing and putting extra effort to achieve specific goals in the future, which is always
uncertain, requires confidence and hope. In addition to confidence and hope, it is important to
remember that, these achievements are not just personal but also communal as well as global,
just as Antjie Krog explains how individualism is a source of global destruction. Moreover,
being a global citizen with access to advanced technology is a channel to accept changes and use
these changes positively to make the world a better place. In achieving career goals, it is of great
importance to embrace changes in terms of technology and human diversity and orientations.
Jonathan Sacks puts forth a very critical point that human beings will get used to anything
including war, poverty, hunger etc. except changes. Therefore, as a global citizen who aims to
achieve personal and professional goals, I must welcome changes along the way, live with hope
of a better future and impart suitable knowledge to communities I interact with, locally and
globally, to encourage global sustainable developments and achievements.
