Read the required readings. Next visit the CDC Injury Prevention and Control website; Child safety and injury prevention. https://www.cdc.gov/safechild/. Additionally review the CDC Childhood Injury report. https://www.cdc.gov/safechild/child_injury_data.ht...
For this discussion share an outline with supportive content for the implementation of a simple educational program or intervention to promote health and reduce injury risk for the childhood and/or adolescent population. Focus can be for an individual, specific group or population. Include the topic, target audience /learner characteristics, statistics of why topic is important, population affected and pertinent risk factors. Include, objectives, goals, the intervention and means you will use to evaluate the program. Show evidence based support for the intervention. Comment on others projects and share ideas and interventions supported by studies.

Promoting Safety and Reducing Risk: Program Evaluation
The United States experiences over 12000 fatalities and millions of non-fatal injuries
each year. The increasing number of deaths especially in the transport industry raises concerns
thus the need for safety and reducing risk programs in schools. According to CDC (Centre for
Disease Control and Systems) report, it is evident that from the year 2006 to date in
correspondence with data from National Vital Statistics Systems, there are over 13000 deaths per
year for individuals between the ages of 0-19 years (Teen Drivers, 2014).
These risk injuries range from drowning falls, burns, food poisoning, and transportation
correlated factors. Minor injuries resulted from falls within the same age group. Roads are a
major aspect in the transport sector and a high-risk factor in rising death tolls among adolescent
teens that in most cases drink alcohol and drive. This poses a threat of either high or low-risk
injury to pedestrians (Teen Drivers, 2014). The inclusion of pedestrian crossing on roads helps
curb these unnecessary accidents and loss of lives on the road. Netherlands is among nations
with reduced number of deaths due to routine checks and assessments on roads (Georges Dionne,
2012).
