Suppose you observe the same constellation from above at the same time in the evening (e.g. at 9 pm) for an entire year. Describe its change in position or orientation throughout the year.

I'm not sure what "from above" refers to here, it doesn't make much sense to me in this context. And the wording suggests you should refer to a specific constellation. But generally, they will appear to rotate to the West. Remember they'll seem to rotate around one of the poles (north or south) so constellations closer to the poles will trace smaller cirles around them, while those near the equator will trace a route right around the sky (from the POV of an observer on Earth).

To understand why, think about the Earth orbiting the sun. Remember at night, you'll always be facing *away* from the sun (since it's night!) so the part of the sky you're facing will sweep round 360 degrees over the course of a year.

For this question specifically, the orientation and position though will depend on exactly which constellation you choose, so be careful and use maps or planetarium software to visualise it!
