Importance of Communication in an organization
Communication is essential for planning and decision-making, which are the building
blocks for organizational success. Some of the problems an organization may face, such as
incompetence, poor coordination, red tape, and insensitivity, emerge from ineffective
communication practices. Hence, to talk about the effectiveness of communication, it is
imperative to explore how various units of an organization interact to create value and prosper
operational success.
Communication practices influence employee behavior. Effective communication helps
employees to feel they are part of the organization. These employees voice their opinions openly
and freely and always actively listen when given a chance to communicate. They develop a
feeling that their comments and opinions matter when managers pay attention to their input
during meetings (Babatunde, 2015). This approach to communication makes subordinate
employees feel like they are peers with the managers and willingly contribute to the
organization’s activities. The sense of identity and recognition influences their attitude about the
management and the organization’s operational goals, resulting in improved employee output.
Effective communication influences decision-making practices, which shape the growth
trajectory of the organization. Managers who effectively articulate operational policies to
