The aspect of personal identity is mainly concerned with the components that make the
real individual (Boeker, 2017). The notion is salient in the sense that it defines the qualities of
people that make them unique. Various theories have been propounded to articulate on the
concept of personal identity. Among the identified theories include; John Locke’s memory
theory of identity, the soul's criterion theory, and the body criterion presumption. These theories
differ depending on the beliefs that are held by each one of them (Boeker, 2017).
According to Locke’s memory theory of personal identity, it is portended that personal
identity emerges as a result of the consciousness of an individual. Besides, the model maintains
