Managing Expectations In this exercise, you will analyze the different types of expectations students and instructors have in the online learning experience Perform the following tasks: Step 1: Review the related week's materials. Review the information presented on discussing student and instructor expectations. Step 2: Prepare your assignment. Using a table format in a word processing program such as MS Word, identify at least five to eight types of expectations students have and compare them with those of instructors (e.g. assignments expectations, timeliness, etc.). Create a table that aligns the two perspectives. Include specific examples of each expectation type. After the table, synthesize at least three scholarly sources, one of which may be your textbook, into a description of methods for managing and maintaining each expectation type (address both teacher and students) in the online classroom. Use APA formatting and citation styles. Here is an example of a formatted table: Expectation Type: Student Expectations: Instructor Expectations: Managing this Expectation: Example: Assignment Due Dates Description here Description here Description here Step 3: Create Classroom Expectations to your Course Site Course. If you remember, during the previous course EDU600 Introduction to Online Learning, you began to create an online course. This week you will create a set of Instructor and Student Expectations and add that to your Course Site course. While in edit mode and on the Homepage, add a "Content Area" and label it "Course Expectations." To review how this is done, view the "Modifying the Course Menu" video within the "Getting Started with Course Sites" training under “Build." You will see a Course Expectations link appear in the main menu along the left. While on that page, click “Build Content" and Create "Item." Label it Course Expectations. You should create a minimum of five expectations of students and a minimum of five expectations of instructor. Develop the expectations so that it is clear to students what to expect in the course. As a resource, you may wish to refer to the Faculty Expectations page of this course or of other courses you have participated in as examples. Please use these only as a reference; you may not copy these to satisfy your assignment requirements. Instead, develop your own expectations page that is appropriate for your online course. Finally move the Course Expectations page so that it is under the Course Description page you created in EDU 600 along the left in the main menu. Step 4: Include the Guest Account Information before submitting your assignment. Before submitting this assignment; you will need to provide your Instructor with the guest/observer URL that you have created for your course. To review where this URL is located please see the following Job Aid. Make sure that this URL i clearly presented and labeled at the start or end of your assignment. . Setting up a Guest Account

Step One: Review the Related Weeks Materials
From the related week’s materials on the expectation of students and instructors in the online program, there is a clear
indication that online courses are very different from face-to-face courses. No traditional lecture and group meetings. All these are
transferred online where students meet on the discussion board to share ideas and ask questions. The whole program is studentcentered. Students must read course material, do assignments and apply the knowledge learned while being guided by the instructor.
This explains why each side has expectations at all times. While the instructor requires active participation, timely delivery of
assignments, and posts on discussion boards, the student requires an enriching learning experience, coupled by timely feedback and
encouragements to keep working hard...
