MBAA 635 Capstone Requirements The chosen company you will work on is Delta Airline Inc. your strategic analysis will be focused on Delta Airline Inc. The reference provided will be the most deducted from the airline company Strategic Analysis Objective The objective of the capstone paper is to demonstrate the comprehensive knowledge and skills—gained throughout your pursuit of a graduate degree—in a business plan analyzing the many strategic planning aspects of a firm. The paper must demonstrate significant knowledge of the firm gained from your significant scholarly research conducted during this course. Methodology You are to select a firm approved by your instructor and then independently formulate a single strategic plan that best fits the firm chosen for study. The firm must be a publicly traded global firm listed on the NYSE. This is to ensure there is public access to annual reports, financial data, and so forth. Because each student must analyze a different firm (there will be no duplication of firms), the first person to post a selection gets that firm (unless the instructor does not approve the choice for another reason). You are to develop the strategic plan incrementally over eight weeks and submit specific sections each week. The complete document is due by the end of Day 6 of the Module 9 week. Submission of the final complete paper is a requirement for passing the Course. You are to incorporate any instructor feedback received throughout the course or new learning in the individually submitted sections; however, all changes from the original submissions must be distinguished by red-colored font, as illustrated here. Requirements for the Deliverables The following elements are to be analyzed and included in the strategic plan (page lengths are intended as guide only): 1. History of the Firm (1 to 2 pages) Rely on the knowledge and skills developed in your core courses covering research methods to address the history of the firm. 2. Financial Overview (2 to 3 pages excluding any figures) Include trends in important financial ratios for the firm (graphs/figures may be useful here). Ratios deemed important could vary based on the industry of firm; therefore, provide justification of any ratios chosen and include industry measures. Sequentially number each page, except for the title page that takes no page number, at the top right corner with Arabic numerals. All other style/format requirements must comply with current APA guidelines for reporting research. History
Delta Air Lines, Inc. is one of one of the main airlines in the United States. The
headquarters of the Delta Air Lines Inc. is situated at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International
Airport, Georgia where its largest hub is also stationed. Delta Air Lines founded in the year 1924
30th may under the name Huff Daland Dusters and was based in Macon in Georgia U.S. Out of
the remaining operating air lines to date delta is the 6th oldest by the date it was founded. It is
also the oldest airline that is still working in the United States. It was founded as Crop Dusting
Company. The used and air craft is known as Huff-Daland Duster which was the first of its kind
and was designed to fight the boll weevil infestation in the cotton fields. It relocated to Monroe,
Louisiana in 1925. This was after it was traded to Collet E Wolman who was one of its very first
directors on the September 1928 (Miller, 2014). Collet renamed the company to Delta Air
Service probably because it was situated near the Mississippi delta region.
However, the company did not begin passenger service until on the 17th of June the year
1929 where it conducted maiden flights between Dallas, Texas and Jackson, Mississippi. Delta
operated in Louisiana until 1941 when it relocated to its present headquarters in Atlanta. Over
the years Delta developed steadily through the introduction of new roots and acquisition of other
airlines. In the 1960s Delta updated their propeller planes with jets, and it marked their entry to
global competition with flights to Europe in the 1970s and eventually crossed the Pacific in the
early 1980s. Deltas latest history is its rise from bankruptcy in the year 2007 (Phillips & Pittman,
2014). In the year 2008 Delta joined with the Northwest Airlines in what was thought to be the
making of the world’s biggest airline. Delta Air Lines is mainly there today because of many
mergers in the course of its history. In the year 1933 delta joined with Chicago and Southern

airline which was fully integrated to Delta Air Lines in 1953. In the 1972 Northeast airlines
merged with delta and most recently in 2010 Northwest airlines were fully integrated by Delta
Air Lines to make the largest airline globally.
Financial Overview
Delta Airline corporation is second-largest air carrier in the United States as per the New
York stock exchange report since last year February. Tthe new carrier has been created from a
result of mergers that have done between the Northeast and Old Delta, and since then the
competition has been about the big players in the airline industry such as US Airways and
Continental Airways (Wei, 2016). Although most of the price wars have changed the...
