1. Environment refers to all conditions (both biotic and abiotic conditions) that
surrounds an organism which in turn affects the characteristics of the organism in
several ways. Biotic factors refer to living things in the environment. They have the
capability of reproducing. Examples of biotic components are fungi, birds, plants,
human beings. Abiotic factors on the other hand refer to all non-living things
components in an environment. Abiotic components include soil, water, sunlight, air
(Jennings, 2010).
2. The preservation ethic is an ethic of asset utilize, allotment, abuse, and protection. Its
main aim is after keeping up the soundness of the natural world. Gifford Pinchot let
the conservation movement in the US. Preservation ethics on the other hand deals
with safeguarding of natural resources, save and maintain them at the present status to
use them in future. John Muir, who is a Scottish is the renown preservationists in U.S.
history (Jennings, 2010).
3. Environmental justice: This refers to a rational treatment and substantial participation
without considering the race, country, skin colour or income with respect to
application of the environmental laws and development, policies and regulations. An
example of environmental justice is water pollution whereby majority of low class
community live near waste disposal sites and industrial plants. Improper monitoring
of waste water treatment will definitely affect the water quality around these kind of
people living here who are likely to suffer (Jennings, 2010).
