Statement of Purpose
Students in our classroom behave in a manner that promotes a safe environment for
learning and built on the principle of communication, cooperation, creativity, and collaboration.
They are expected to pursue academic excellence through active participation in all class
activities designed to develop their moral and intellectual capabilities and become responsible
individuals.
Classroom Rules
Aside from using the establishment of a positive and safe learning environment as a way
of proactive management of the classroom, one of the goals of this plan is to use classroom rules
to emphasize the statement of purpose and accomplish the learning objectives set for daily
activities. Smith et al. (2015) explained that this is necessary for the behavioral management of
disruptive students that are taught in a self-contained environment. They noted that these rules
are specific, measurable, and contain positive words; they would represent a motivational
approach for students to monitor their behavior within and outside the classroom since they are
consistent with school policies. In this classroom, the first rule would be “keep your hands and
feet to yourself” to curtail the tendencies of the students to disrupt other from learning. Secondly,
students would need to raise their hand when they need something or wish to respond to a
question and wait to be recognized before proceeding to speak. The third rule that would be used
to maintain a safe environment is that students should ask for permission from their classmates
before using their materials while the final rule is to follow all directions from the teacher
including when performing and submitting their assignments.

Procedures

Vannest & Hagan-Burke (2010) stated that procedures are simple steps to reinforce the
rules created for special education students because it serves as a reminder of them and illustrate
the processes required for the successful completion of tasks and assignments. Also, procedures
are effective preventative measures for the display of inappropriate behaviors that might likely
occur during transitions periods in less structured class activities including completing and
submission of work and visiting the restroom. Students in the classroom that intend to use the
