1.   Make 1L of a 5.0 mg/ml solution from a 100mg/ml solution.

V1 x C1 = V2 x C2

1 L x 5 mg/mL = 100 mgmL x V2

V2 = 50 mL

So, you take 50 mL of 100 mg/mL and dilute it up to 1L (aka 1000 mL - 50 mL = 950 mL) with water.
