   25 grams of penicillin is dissolved in 150 grams of water. What is the concentration of penicillin in parts per million?

Take the mass of penicillin and divide by the mass of H2O. Then multiply the result by 1 million (1 x 10^6)

Next, divide the mass of penicillin by the mass of water...

(25g) / (150 g) x 1 x 10^6= 1.6667 x 10 ^ 5 ppm

1.7 x 10 ^ 5 ppm  or 17,000 ppm (with sigfigs in mind)
