Introduction
Congress recently passed a law that abolished and dissolved the Marin Corps and merged
its personnel and assets into the Army, Navy, and Airforce. It all stems from historical issues
affecting the Navy, especially after the war with China, which lasted two months and during which
the Navy was unable to realize its intended objectives. The Marine Corps was disbanded because
of issues troubling this unit, such as disorganization, poor budget planning, and threats from other
nations with more improved military technologies.
Threats from Other Nations with Improved Technologies
The USA faced significant threats from nations such as China, which improved their
military technologies. China had spent long periods studying the US army and understanding how
it operates in a different sector. Long after the Cold war, the USA had a method of warfare that
had become efficient and was also deadly. Its use of long-range precision weapons as the main
choice has also been studied. The lockstep phasing and deployment method had long been active,
a preferred mode of operation by the US army (Ucko, 2019). Efficiency was usually maximized
through the consolidation of firepower and a command-and-control mechanism of action. Mobility
into a single platform had also evidently raised efficiency. This was another major issue that the
China army had placed into consideration. It did its best to study the operations of the US army in
a bid to improve its models. Through this, China could find a gap that it could exploit, which gave
China room to create its different model, largely leaving the USA exposed (Ucko, 2019).
Additionally, the Chinese also realized that they were able to deplete the USA weapon stockpile
with the use of decoys and new systems. At this time, the USA military realized that innovation
was largely changing, and there was a need for a new way of managing these things. The Marine

Corps effectively had no increase in capabilities, and this became a major issue affecting its
operations and the ability to make other technologically developed aspects. This gives a brief
overview of the challenges that have faced the Marine Corps and have largely led to this major
decision to dissolve the Marine Corps and merge its assets to ...
