Developing nations are conflicted by various shortcomings in all sectors of the society
from the social, political to the economic sectors. Lending institutions such as the International
Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank have played a key role in supporting development in
this countries. The paper will analyze the role that the lending institutions have played in
supporting the development of Kenya in East Africa, the example of how health populations
contribute to economic development will also be provided in addition to identifying the extent to
which leadership in Kenya has utilized foreign aid to improve the healthcare system.
Role of international lending intuitions on Kenya
International lending institutions, for instance, the IMF and the World Bank have been
critical to helping Kenya achieving economic, political and social development (Lancaster,
2008). The substantial role that the lending institution has played in the development of Kenya is
evidenced in the growth of the economic sector. The IMF, for instance, provided the Kenyan
government $1.5 billion which has been used to support the development of infrastructure and
more specifically the development of a standards gauge railways (Stevis, 2016). The World Bank
