28. The smaller rectangle has side equal to 16 * SqR(27/48)

-= 16 *SQR (9/16) = 16 * 3/4 =12

So the other side of smaller rectangle = area/ side = 27/ 12 = 9/4

the side of the larger rectangle = 48/16 =3

The areas of similar shapes/rectangles are the square of the scale factor - I have used this in reverse to find the side of the smaller rectangle

30 actual area = 2.7 * (1/3)^2  = 2.7/9 = 0.3 square cm

32. yes the new playground will be 4 times as big in area, while the population is roughly double
