Opinions and Perceptions on the Patient-Physician Relationships
Building a healthy relationship which is accompanied with trust with patients is key to

the ethical health practice. It is regularly necessary for the patient to have confidence in the
capability of their physician and must also think and feel they can confide in the respective
medical practitioner. Hence, for the nurses, the establishment of a good rapport with the patients
is essential for the productive healthcare services.
The nursing practice provides that the one should not discriminate against any patient on
various grounds such as age, gender, marital status, medical status among other conditions. One
should also offer any appropriate assistance and services to any patient or person with an urgent
requirement for medical care.

Opinions on Consent, Communication and Decision Making.
To facilitate patients to engage in a more meaningful decision about the health care,

healthcare practitioners have the responsibility to offer information and assist patients in
understanding their medical status and treatment options. Effective communication is essential in
helping the patient, family and the nursing officer in making critical decisions that will ensure
the provision of quality healthcare services.
This is similar to the health educators’ or nurses professional code of conducts which
entails that one should provide the patient with the relevant information he or she may require to
make an informed medical decisions about his or her medical care. However, the same code also

limits the health professional to consider other factors such as age and medical conditions while
making medical decisions.

Opinions on Privacy, Confidentiality and Medical Records.
Notably, respecting the privacy and confidentiality of patients is fundamental ethical

obligation in medicine. This will ensure that the data and information which are describing the
patients are prevented from being accessed to unauthorized person.
This is also similar to the nursing practioners to offer protection to the personal health
information of the patients. Nurses should also avoid public discussions concerning patients that
could be viewed as confidential information.

Keeping Promise and Honoring my Commitments
This is essential ethical behavior for any professionals. I will ensure that that I will

comply with my duties, contracts and agreements through offering the appropriate medical
services.
This will significantly help in minimizing any problems with the health institution or the
patients. This is also similar to the medical care code of behavior which requires that one should
acknowledge that the medical professionals should comply with their responsibilities to the
society by recognizing the fact that the community and the environment are significant factors in
the health of the individual patients.
