Identification of consumer needs is imperative for any business establishment to
flourish. Companies, in a bid to achieve this goal, use the qualitative and quantitative methods of
collecting consumer data. The qualitative methods are mainly used to collect data which is not
numerable. This means that the data is in words and phrases and not in discrete numerical
characters. It therefore cannot be analyzed statistically, unless statistically representative figures
are used in the process. Understanding the needs of the consumers enables companies to develop
services which are directly targeted at the market in question. Failure to do this would mean that
