Health Care Reform Paper
The health care system has experienced many changes throughout the years. In the health
care system, things change rapidly. The health care industry consists of doctors of many different
fields along with health care facilities, health insurance companies, medical equipment and
pharmaceutical manufacturers. To keep up with this ever changing industry, it is important to
ensure that certain elements are addressed. The top five elements of the health care system that I
believe need the most reforming are; excessive care, access to care, quality of care, end of life
issues and sustaining the health care industry. These are only some of the issues that can affect
hospital leaders and patients the most. Since these are known issues, the Health Care Reform of
2010 attempted to address these concerns.
Excessive Care
When one looks at the issue of care in the USA, there has been a surge that has seen
everyone being liable for health care industry. The current reform bill that is being utilized has
increased the age of those who are dependent on their parents and guardians to age 26. There has
been a lot of innovation that has taken place, and while this is a positive aspect, it has a lot of
ramifications regarding care. For instance, when the children are born immature, they are liable
to receive the maximum care that is available. The essay will not seek to dwell on the ethics of
merciful killing, but the point is, people are being rushed to the emergency rooms, pushing the
costs even higher. It should not be interpreted to mean that this implies that people and the
government should overlook its role in ensuring that the people have access to healthcare. The
point being put across is that in an attempt to cover people under the universal health care, the
bill has only raised more grounds upon which health services are needed, and the preventive role
of medicine has been overlooked. One of the major impacts of the excessive care in the USA has

been traced in the treatment of people over the first and last ten days of their lives. In most
countries, if the chances of survival are poor, then there is a shared ideology of preceding the
treatments, which are usually very expensive and involved, regarding human capital, resources,
and even emotional involvement. Compared to the USA, under the current law ‘if the chances of
a procedure being successful are low, then it is often not given. In the United States, such care is
given even if the prognosis is poor’. There has also been a surge in lawsuits against the doctors
as the patients have been empowered under the law, and this makes the doctors to over-test.
While the doctors do not do this out of necessity, they just do it to avoid being legally liable for
not ordering particular tests. These factors are some of the underlying cautious st...
