Introduction
Paediatrics is a branch of medicine that is concerned with the treatment of children,
wherechildren are considered to be persons below the age of adulthood that in most cases are
eighteen years of age. A human being below the age of eighteen years is known as a minor
for they have not attained the legal age of responsibility and accountability. Children age
range from neonates who are new born infants, toddlers who are between ages of one and
three years and are learning how to walk, the school going kid, adolescents and young adults.
Children are affected by various paediatric conditions affecting the eyes, ears, mouth,
lymphatic and gastrointestinal systems that make the kids uncomfortable and putting them at
a risk of becoming unhealthy.
Neonates are at high risks of developing newborn jaundice which is a yellowing of the
baby’s eyes and skin caused by premature birth in children, lack of enough breast milk and
incompatibility of the baby’s blood with that of the mother. The disease is treatable, and the
kid is at low risk of dying when they are taken for examination to a medical doctor or a
