SOCIOLOGY 313 UOFM Sociological Perspectives Issues Question
Sociological Perspectives on Contemporary Social Issues
Objective
A sociological approach to society entails a systematic study of the social world. As such, a sociological analysis of contemporary social issues often differs from common sense or popular accounts of the causes and effects of particular issues. Additionally, a sociological analysis may also present a different solution to a particular issue than ones currently deployed by public agencies, politicians or policy makers. This exercise will help students to apply their "sociological imaginations" to a contemporary social issue, illustrating the way that a social scientific approach that entails a systematic study of the social word may differ from a "common sense" approach to social issues.
Description
This class has touched on a wide variety of social issues. Choose a social issue (it may be one that we have addressed or not). Your essay should summarize the particular issue and describe a popular or common sense understanding of this issue. Drawing on concepts and insights from readings over the entire quarter, present a sociological analysis of this issue. How might a sociological approach differ from a common sense approach? What course concepts or insights are useful in understanding this particular issue? What might be a sociologically informed solution to this particular social issue? Does a sociological understanding of this topic change alter your personal perspective on this topic? Why or why not?

University of Phoenix Economic Equilibrium in The Market Research Paper
Post a total of 3 substantive responses. This includes your initial post and 2 replies to classmates or your faculty member. Respond to the following in a minimum of 175 words: Discuss how the economy returns to equilibrium in response to changes in aggregate demand (AD) and aggregate supply (AS) in both the short run and long run. Post 2 replies to classmates or your faculty member. Be constructive and professional Student 1 I think I am going to have a tough time trying to put this into my own words because I still feel that I am a little clueless about aggregate supply and demand, so feel free to correct me if I am wrong. However, I will give it a go, first starting with aggregate demand, which I understand to be the total economic demand of goods and services that we are buying, usually for a certain amount of time. Calculating aggregate demand is C (consumption) + I (Gross Investment) + G (Government Purchases) + NX Net Exports. Aggregate supply is the total output of economic goods and services, so what is being made for consumers to buy. In the aggregate supply, short-run prices are inflexible and have an upward slope, wages do not change immediately my understanding is that a person wage does not change if the economy is in trouble (sticky). In the aggregate supply long-run, prices have time to adjust, and the economy can get back to having high wages and more competitive firms. Student 2 When prices are not stable, decisions and planning for the future make it difficult. The government policies such as Medicare and subsidies as well as natural disasters will affect the curves. What aggregate demand looks like is the price level and real GDP is output. When prices rise, real GDP will decrease. Consumption, gross investment, government purchases, and net export is all factored in the real GDP as quantity. When prices fall, real GDP will increase. Short-run aggregate supply when prices rise so does real GDP. In the short run, the higher price will increase real GDP. The same is true if the price falls, so does real GDP. In the short-run aggregate, profits are made when there are increases. For long-run aggregate supply, is flexible. For the economy to be in equilibrium, the long run aggregate supply and the short run aggregate supply and aggregate demand must intersect. All being said and to have unemployment at a desired level for efficiency. There will come a time when everything will return to normal. However, this takes time.

FILLER TEXTCase Study 4.1
1. Imagine you are a human resources professional at Pureswing who has been assigned to develop a program for recruiting new project managers. Design a job description for the position.
2. What qualities and personal characteristics support a higher likelihood of success as a project manager?
3. What qualities and personal characteristics would make it difficult to be a successful project manager?
Case Study 12.1
1. How does multitasking confuse the resource availability of project team personnel?
2. "In modem organizations, it is impossible to eliminate multitasking for the average employee." Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Why?
3. Because of the problems of multitasking, project managers must remember that there is a difference between an activity's duration and the project calendar. In other words, 40 hours of work on a project task is not the same thing as one week on the baseline schedule. Please comment on this concept. Why does multitasking "decouple" activity duration estimates from the project schedule?
