Introduction
Generally, WAN (wide area network) is termed as a form of communications network
which covers a large geographic area such as across states, cities, or nations. In all cases, WANs
may be private purposely to connect different parts of a business or may be public to connect
different but smaller networks together. The easiest and best way to understand WAN is to take
internet as a whole which has been termed as the world's largest WAN. In all cases, internet is
termed as an example of WAN since by use of ISPs, it links as well as connects smaller LocalArea-Networks (LANs) or Metro-Area-Networks (MANs) (Gruenbaum, 2015).
On a smaller-scale, business firms may choose to have a WAN which involve different
cloud services, smaller branch offices, as well as its headquarters. in the given scenario, the WAN
would be utilized purposely to link all of these sections of the business. No matter what the WAN
connects together or how far networks are apart from each other, the outcome is always intended
to allow various smaller networks from different-locations to communicate and share information
with each another (Gruenbaum, 2015). Through combination of LAN and WAN functions, it will
be possible to connect the three offices in Los Angeles, New York City, and Chicago.
