Description
You are tasked with finding a Human Resource Information System (HRIS) for an imaginary organization of your choice, with approximately 200 employees. Compare three HR Information Systems. These systems can be proprietary, open source, or a combination of both. Create a Table of Information (Links to an external site.) to display the topics each of the chosen HRIS systems addresses. Select one of the three HRIS and provide an analysis that addresses the topics from the Human Resources/Talent management list below. Following your analysis, provide recommendations how you would modify the HRIS for use by the organization. Support your recommendation with literature. The modified system can be proprietary, open source, or a combination of both. For a list of proprietary systems please refer to the section titled “Vendor Software” on pages 580-581 in your text. For open source systems refer to The Top 12 Free and Open Source HR Software Systems (Links to an external site.) or the Best Open Source HRM and ERP Solutions (Links to an external site.). Introduction
Human resource management is a function of management that focuses on the procurement
development and maintenance of human resources in an organization. HR as a function thus
deals with all the aspects of personnel in an organization. The functions of HR management
include the hiring, training, compensation, motivation, promoting, firing, employee
evaluation and workforce planning; among other duties. HR professionals thus are mandated
to come up with systems that help in managing all the aspects of employees/people in the
organization in the dimensions discussed above. Human resource information systems are
software systems which assist HR professionals to administer their personnel management
roles most efficiently (Awati & Kumbhar, 2012). This paper seeks to come up with an
analysis for a HRIS system and recommendations for the same.
This paper analyses the HRIS systems: OrangeHRM, iceHRM, and Zoho People; which are
all open source application systems for personnel management. The table of information
below gives the information of the HR functions that each of these three systems addresses.

while their commercial versions are available and provide a greater scope of features
(Kavanagh, 2015). For instance, HR management function such as training and development
of employees is available only in the premium versions of all of the above-highlighted
systems.
Further analysis of these HRIS systems narrows down to study one particular HRIS
application system: the OrangeHRM HRIS system. The following studies are thus in
accordance to the scrutiny of the Orange HRM application system.
