Principles of Management Communication
Institutional Affiliation:

Communication is an essential aspect of every business administration. With the
changing nature of business in the contemporary world, it has become imperative for every
business to integrate the effective ways of communication in every aspect of communication to
enhance employer-employee relationship as well as the employee-employee relationship.
Through this, a firm derives and provides a conducive working environment for all workers, a
fact that boost productivity as well as career and personal development. This study will therefore,
explore the importance of effective communication as well as examine how effective
communication helps in achievement of a company’s objectives.
Good communication is essential in running both small and large businesses. The success
of a business depends largely on the mode of communication the management uses. The
principles of management communications such as honest, vision, purpose, recognition of
employees and values serve a vital role in leading an organization in the right direction to
achieve objectives and goals. The top management in any organization is tasked with the role of

business environment through ensuring that in a firm the workers easily understand all processes

and that they are all working towards achieving the same goal. Further, there is monitoring of
employees to ensure that they reach the set standards to realize the goals of the firm while at the
same time improving the productivity of the organization and growth.
Effective communication norms which a business uses either in an internal or external
environment depends largely on the type of communication used which can be verbal, written or
nonverbal. Effective written communication helps an organization in communicating to the
employees and also external stakeholders. For example, the use of memos, proposals and
business letters which are all geared towards dissemination of information within and outside the
organization. Without these effective communication norms, it becomes difficult for a business
to access opportunities in the market place. Conversely, verbal communication norms in an
organization help managers to communicate with the staff. For instance, managers give
directions, delegate duties to their subordinates, motivate workers and lead during the
organization’s meetings (Knapp, & Daly, 2002). This helps in ensuring that the team of
