When we experience problems, the first thing that we usually ask ourselves is “what
should I do?” One analyzes how best to work out the issue and establishes measures would be
of help in that instance. Problem-solving or critical thinking is a term applied to describe the
type of approaches employed to organize complication situations and think through them
systematically (Soomo, 2013). Critical thinking/problem-solving is a necessary life skill
required to traverse through and stand out at different stages of life including work, school,
and family life. Our brains may not be well matured enough as children to resolve particular
issues on our own and obtain help from our parents. As we age, it is expected that we grow to
be more independent and solve problems on our own or at least attempt to before we request
for help. Some situations need critical thinking or problem-solving. There is a six-step
process to critical thinking or problem-solving. The process guides in resolving problems,
and it helps in consistently structuring all the relevant information. The six-step process
includes problem definition, problem analysis, generating possible solutions, analyzing the
solutions, selecting the best option (s), and planning the next course of action (next steps). In
this assignment, analysis and assessment of the six-step process to problem-solving will be
made, and its application to the scenario will further be made. In this situation, the person has
to decide to change jobs to increase his monies or remain where he is currently hired to
further his education. The paper will provide a synthesis of all related aspects concerning
solving the problem in this scenario, applying the six-step systematic method.
To resolve the current predicament, the six-step process will be applied to provide a
practical solution. The issue involves the company that I have been employed in for the last
11 years. I went back to college to earn a Bachelor’s degree to expand my possibilities of a
