The book explains how child maltreatment has been a disturbing issue in the society of
America. Many cases have been recorded about children suffering from abuse and
neglect with some suffering even to death but they do not give an insight into the wide
dimensions of child abuse. The book provides an ideal framework which explains the
broad spectrum of this problem. It touches on three main areas: “Definitions and scope;
etiology, consequences, treatment, and prevention; infrastructure and ethics.” The book is
a great asset to research institutions, groups that advocate for children and agencies of
