Flipping The Classroom

Question Description

Analyze at least three (3) causes for or underlying issues contributing to the problem of flipping the classroom.

Final Answer

The analysis is minimal, but this may at least be helpful in you developing the writing process...

1) Technology is seen as a necessary device

Many educational institutions believe that technology has to be used in every class, every day of the week. Technology is very helpful but can also be a crutch or hindrance. There is something to be said about having a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher rather than being taught by video clips on a computer.

2) Socio-economic discrepencies make a "flipped classroom" seem ideal

With many students having home lives that prove to be quite challenging, the idea of students completing their homework in the classroom and not at home is appealing. Students do not have the stress associated with independent, unsupported homework completion.

3) The push for data collection, RTI, and differentiation

Schools are currently stressing the initiatives related to RTI and differentiation. By using a flipped classroom, many teachers try to differentiate with video clips at home and groupings when in class working on assignments. RTI is approached differently in a flipped classroom because instruction in meant to be completed at home, but many students receiving RTI services are not quite self-sufficient and may struggle with not having the direct instruction.
