let the total no. of students in class be "x"

so, One-fourth of the class likes strawberry = x/4
One-half of the class likes chocolate = x/2

the rest of the class - 7, said vanilla
rest of the class would be= total - (strawberry+ vanilla) =x-(x/2+x/4) = x - (3x/4) =x/4

so, x/4 = 7

hence, x = 4*7= 28

so, total no of kids = 28.
