Math question involving percentages

Question Description

Five grams of sugar are added to a 45-gram serving of a breakfast cereal that is 20% sugar. What is the percent concentration of sugar in the resulting mixture?

sugar + sugar = sugar

0.20 * 45 + 5 = x(45+5)

Multiply by 100 on both sides, we get

20*45 + 500 = 100 * x * (50)

900 + 500 = x * 5000

1400 = x * 5000

x = 1400/5000

x = 14 / 50

x = 0.28

Hence

percent concentration of sugar = x = 28 %
