Fe(s) + Pt2+ (aq)-------------------> Fe2+ (aq)+ Pt(s)

 ; iron is oxidised ( 0 to +2) and Platinum  is reduced (+2 to 0 )


If the cation appears lower in the table the solid metal will be oxidised (i.e the reaction will occur)

Platinum appears lower in table so it Pt+2 (aq )will oxidise iron Fe(s)
