Project Proposal Chris Watkiss BUS 375 (Project Management) Professor: Christopher Lodge 8/11/2017 Project Summary The home renovation and landscaping project would be my project. It is supposed to increase the attractiveness of the home as well as its surroundings. This is because the project would have the ability to deal with the unattractive and maybe dangerous elements in the house as well as outside in order to make the whole home appealing. This project is expected to incur a considerable amount of money due to the resources required. It would comprise of numerous personnel to operate this project as well as sufficient raw materials and accessories. Customers from all over the world would love the project once it is completed properly. Project Goals and Project Objectives The goals for this project comprise of the increase of attractiveness, conservation of the environment, and the enhancement of popularity (Burke, 2013). Attractiveness would be increased since the project would have the ability to make the homes together with the neighborhood more appealing. The element is important for the company as it would enhance its popularity among other customers. The conservation of the environment would be achieved if the project considers the natural aspects of the environment and decide to retain them. The enhancement of popularity would be accomplished when customers identify the company with an effective project of ensuring that it the environment is conserved and attractiveness is achieved. The objectives of the project would however comprise of the introduction of advanced machinery that increase the capacity of dealing with renovations, the increase of allocated funds for new projects which would facilitate the success of the entire project, and the recruitment of skilled personnel in the sector of landscape design to ensure that the work they do is proficient and satisfactory. Key Customers and Stakeholders The main customers for this project would be the individuals in the middle class as well as the wealthy ones with the desire to have their homes renovated and increase their attractiveness. This is because the project would be focusing on luxurious aspects of renovations which are often expensive and could be afforded by this kind of individuals. The main stakeholders of the project comprise of the neighbors of the home that is being renovated (Kerzner, 2013). This is because they could have the value of their property increased once the project becomes successful or reduce their value when the project ruins the property. The other stakeholders are the insurance companies which could incur huge costs in the event that the project fails. The Key Milestones and Deliverables Milestones are tools that are used in projects since they help in marking particular points during the progress of a project (Burke, 2013). A deliverable, on the other hand, is something that could be provided usually as an outcome of a development undertaking. There exist three milestones in this project and they comprise of the agreement with construction companies, the selection of the workforce, and the provision of services that are in line with the preferences of the customer. The initial milestone ensures that the company gets a suitable deal with a construction company so as to make the undertaking less costly and effective. The next one involves the selection of the workforce with regard to the kind of skills they possess since each one of them would be allocated a duty that is in line with their abilities. The last milestones are the delivery of services through ensuring that the desires of the customer are considered to increase satisfaction. High-Level Timeline Due to a number of activities that would be carried out during this project, it is expected to be completed in a period of 21 days. Therefore, the deadline is supposed to be on 1st September 2017. The renovation of the interior of the house would consume a lot of time due to the aspect of trying to maintain some items that the owners desire to preserve and the total construction of other areas that did not exist. The exterior compound of the home would also take time since the constructors would be attempting to increase the appeal of the home while preserving the environment as well. Things like swimming pools, fishponds, and fountains are time-consuming. Estimation of Overall Cost Due to a number of resources expected to be utilized, the project could incur a cost ranging from $4500 to $50000. This is because the materials to be utilized would be expensive in nature. They would comprise of luxurious furniture, a fishpond, a fountain, a swimming pool, nonflammable paint, expensive and efficient electronic, a sustainable lighting system, and concrete together with high-value timber for construction. Numerous people with suitable skills would be recruited to make the project run faster (Kerzner, 2013). Engineers and interior designers would be part of the personnel and they are expensive to remunerate. Challenge of the Project The challenge that would affect the project the most would be the issue of recruits acquired. Since the project is expected to take a short period of time, it requires a lot of individuals to participate. This hence creates the need for collaboration and coordination. However, this is a genuine concern since people tend to work with less coordination when they are many. Various conflicts throughout the project are expected to rise since these individuals have different skills which would create the element narrow-mindedness in individuals who feel their skills are superior to others (Kerzner, 2013). Therefore, the best way to deal with the issue is to have a strict supervisor who would direct every worker throughout the project’s phases. References Burke, R. (2013).
