Most police departments epitomize institutionalized discrimination in the United States. During the latter years, the media has brought attention to this sad but recurring activity across the nation. The media has shown how cops have killed with impunity, almost always targeting African Americans. In this case, discrimination has lethal consequences, for the explicit reason that is institutionalized; it is deeply embedded in police departments' ideology of going after the poor and those that are unlikely to defend them selves. Going after real criminals requires real police work, and that would many times be actually harder to get political support for. For example who is going to go after a criminal multinational corporation that is damaging the entire planet? Besides, they have deep pocket defense law firms to back them up. Is it not just a lot easier to shoot a Black man on the back and call it doing your job?
