2. let the constant be k,
since y varies inversely with x^2

therefore, y = k/x^2

given y=12 and x=16,
so, 12= k/16^2
k = 12*16^2 = 3072

when x=9,

y= 3072/9^2

That's not one if my answer choices

I know but the answer should be 37.9

1/x^2 + 1/2 = 1/2x^2
1/2x^2 -1/x^2 =- 1/2
1/x^2(1/2 -1) = -1/2
1/x^2(-1/2) = -1/2
1/x^2 = 1
x^2 = 1

x= 1

i hope this is one of the option?

if 1 is not an option then -1 is the correct answer
