22. Milanesa is an Italian dish named after the city of Milano which was brought to South America by Italian immigrants during the Italian diaspora between 1860 - 1920s. A milanesa consists of a thin slice of beef, chicken, veal or sometimes pork, and even eggplants or soy. Each slice is dipped into beaten eggs, seasoned with salt and other condiments according to taste. Each slice is then dipped in bread crumbs and fried in oil in a shallow pan one at a time.
Milanesa Napolitana is a variation on the original Milanesa which differs by adding tomato paste, mozzarella cheese, and sometimes ham.
