Technology lists among the strategies involved in solving some of the challenges learners
face with disabilities. The levels of technology differ depending on the targeted challenge, but all
focus on improving learning among learners with special needs. For a long time, learners with
special needs have received minimal to no attention in school, affecting their performance.
Currently, assistive technology plays an important role in helping learners to navigate some of
the challenges.
Evidence-Based Strategies
The two teaching strategies discussed in this project are; the use of software, the speech
text and mid-tech devices, and graphic organizers. Assistive learning can involve using software
that helps physically challenged learners who have challenges in writing. The software helps the
learner overcome mechanical writing challenges and improve their communication capacity. For
instance, the speech to text software entails both high and low-level transcription skills. Some of
the low-level skills are such as spelling, punctuation and handwriting. The high-level skills are
content creation, revisions and planning (Atanga et al., 2020). The software is important as it
ensures that all learners in class can present their content without feeling left out.
Further, titles such as XpressLab are approved to help learners overcome challenges
when delivering their speeches. Second, mid-tech devices are important for learners with fine
motor difficulties. For example, the graphic organizer is a mid-tech device used to help learners
who have challenges expressing their opinions in class. Graphic organizers help learners achieve
a smooth flow of thoughts by providing a framework.
