distance = rate * time

in current mike can paddle 4 miles per hour i.e. rate

as stream flow the speed of mike will decrease we have to minus that from mike current speed

4 - speed of flow

distance = 6 = 4 - speed of flow * time

6/ time = 4 - speed of flow

let's suppose the river flow is 2 miles per hour

6 / time = 2

6/2 = time

3 hour = time

time = 3 hour depending on this result you can get some idea.
