Obesity is a serious health issue not just in the United States but across the globe. In the
United States obesity has been a health issue right from 1950s, but it was not as prevalent as it is
today. The causes for the prevalence of this disorder can largely be blamed on lifestyle, and
unwillingness to manage weight. Looking at the statistics of 1999 and 2000, the prevalence of
obesity was at 30 percent among adults. However, females were more obese than male and that
is why the obesity prevalence among them stood at 34 percent as compared to males whose
obesity prevalence stood at 28 percent (Salinsky & Scott, 2014). Besides, with high incidences
of obesity in America, where Virginia is recording the highest, that is, 37.7 percent prevention of
the disorder is becoming a bit challenging. As of now, the health policies and also public
awareness advanced by the USA federal government and State governments are costly. In brief,
obesity prevention is an economic burden not only to the federal government, but also to State
governments.
Early care and education policy review is one of the programs that targets to deal with the
problem of obesity in the United States. The policy was reviewed so as to create an opportunity
where health practitioners, those providing child care as well as decision makers in states to
come up with efforts that can address the obesity across all the States. In the review of this
policy, it is apparent that actions advancing the prevention of obesity are clearly outlined. The
