1.       What is the difference between a density independent and density dependent influence on population growth

Density Independent Variable: Despite the number of individuals in a population, this variable will influence the rate of population growth constantly.  An example of this would be climate.

Density Dependent Variable:  Influence of this variable is dependent on the population size.  An example of this would be food availability available within a population.
